An Opportunity to Express Your Views
On the City's Proposed Changes to the Burrard Bridge

The City of Vancouver is holding two open houses for the public to view and comment on the city's proposed plans to widen the sidewalk and upgrade the lighting on the Burrard Bridge. The city is proposing widening the existing sidewalks to approximately six metres to provide improved pedestrian and cycling facilities across False Creek. Staff and consultants from the project will answer questions and receive comments and feedback. Let the City know that you value the Art Deco Burrard Bridge and are opposed to them tampering with this Vancouver work of art.

GIANTS LEAP: Film Event and Panel Discussion
on Neighbourhood Development Impacts

Join us on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at 7pm in viewing the recently released film GIANTS LEAP produced by Florence Debeugny and Lynsey Hamilton. Sponsored by Heritage Vancouver, this film documents the physical and architectural changes of Vancouver's Downtown South neighbourhood from early 2005 until mid 2007. It illustrates how development pressures, initiated through the City’s planning processes, are erasing the physical evidence of the past and replacing it with what some would question as good architectural and urban design choices. Through the eyes of a variety of residents and commentators, the film is an illustration of how rapid development has radically altered the lives of people who once called this neighbourhood home.
