Call for Board Nominations

Heritage Vancouver Society will be holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 6, 2012 at the Roedde House Museum, 1415 Barclay St, from 6:30pm until 7:00pm. The AGM will be followed by Heritage Vancouver's Christmas Party.

Members are invited to submit names of candidates for positions on the Board of the Heritage Vancouver Society for the term of 2012-2013, to be announced at the AGM.

The Board is seeking to fill the following positions:

  • Vice President
  • Communications/Media Chair
  • Membership Chair

The Board is looking for individuals who are:

  • Creative, enthusiastic and team-oriented;
  • Committed to the vision and goals of Heritage Vancouver to ‘Create a Future for Vancouver’s Heritage’; and
  • Dedicated to Heritage Vancouver’s commitment to fostering positive working relationships with local neighborhoods and the architectural, business, arts, historic, cultural, conservation and development communities.

by Sunday, November 11, 2012. 

Please note that there will be no nominations from the floor at the AGM;
all positions will be confirmed prior to December 6th.

Exotic World of Bombay Art Deco: Presentation & Indian Buffet

Tickets: $35 Heritage Vancouver & The Canadian Art Deco Society members;
$40 non-members (price includes presentation, buffet, wine and Indian appetizers)

Join Heritage Vancouver and the Canadian Art Deco Society for a marvelous evening exploring the Art Deco architecture of Bombay, India. Navin Ramani, author of Bombay Art Deco Architecture, A Visual Journey 1930-1953, will provide insights into this fascinating and little-known history. The evening will begin with wine and appetizers, followed by a lively presentation, and conclude with an authentic full-course Indian buffet.

Annual General Meeting & Victorian Christmas Party

Thursday, December 6, 2012 | AGM starts 6:30pm; Xmas Party begins 7pm
Location: Roedde House Museum at 1415 Barclay Street in Vancouver's West End

The evening is an opportunity to celebrate the season with old friends and colleagues at the historic Roedde House Museum, which will be decorated for a Victorian style Christmas. Come and bring your favourite appetizer or dessert and join in the festivities of the season.

An Evening at the Penthouse Nightclub (1947)

Tuesday, December 11, 2012
Doors open at 5:45pm; Tours at 6:00pm, 6:45pm, and 7:30pm;
Exotic dancers 9:00pm

Tickets: $25 Heritage Vancouver members; $30 non-members
Price includes tour, talk, Indian buffet, a complimentary drink,
and cover for the show

Heritage Vancouver's fabulous evening at the Penthouse Nightclub is back again after last year's fire forced its cancellation. Join owner Danny Filippone for a night of stories, food, drink, and entertainment as he takes you on his famous "behind the scenes" tour of the historic family business. Aaron Chapman, author of the recently released book Liquor, Lust, and the Law: The Story of Vancouver's Legendary Penthouse Nightclub, will join Danny in a presentation which includes never before heard stories from the club's fascinating past.
